Getting Started & the Brief
Vertex designs and builds exhibition stands and branded event environments for companies across the UK. We are not a generic events company — we focus specifically on the physical side of exhibiting: the design, the build, the graphics, the logistics and the delivery.
Our approach combines real production experience with a more structured front-end process, so clients get better outcomes with less confusion and fewer moving parts to manage themselves.
That is fine — it is actually one of the things we are set up to help with. Most people who come to us are somewhere between “we know we need a stand” and “we have a rough idea but are not sure what it costs or how to communicate it.”
The best starting point is our AI brief builder, which guides you through the key questions in a structured way. If you would rather just talk it through, you can get in touch directly and we will work through the basics with you.
If you know the event, the venue and the stand size — that is enough to start a conversation. Everything else can be worked out together.
The more detail you can give us, the faster we can guide the next step. But we would rather hear from you early with limited information than late when there is less time to do the job properly.
Most projects run over 6–10 weeks from brief to show. For straightforward builds, we can work to tighter timelines — but lead time affects what is achievable on design, production and logistics.
The earlier you come to us, the more options you have. If you have a show coming up in the next few weeks, contact us directly and we will tell you honestly what is and is not possible.

Costs & Budget
It is one of the most common questions, and there is no single fixed answer. Stand costs depend on size, complexity, level of finish, logistics requirements and how much of the wider event process is included.
As a general guide: smaller shell scheme upgrades typically sit in the £3,000–£8,000 range. Mid-range custom builds are usually £8,000–£25,000. Larger bespoke builds with multiple zones go beyond that. These are indicative — the best way to get a clearer picture is to use the budget planner.
This is one of the most important things to get clear early. Your total event budget covers everything
– stand space hire, travel, accommodation, venue services, product logistics, marketing materials and the stand build itself.
Many clients come to us with a total event budget and assume most of it is available for the stand. In practice, the stand-only budget is often significantly smaller once everything else is accounted for. Getting this clear early prevents disappointment later.
Yes. We design with your budget in mind from the start, not as an afterthought. Being upfront about what is available is one of the most important things you can do to get a good outcome — it lets us focus on what is actually achievable rather than designing something that needs to be scaled back.
We will always tell you if a brief cannot be delivered within the budget you have described, and suggest what is realistic instead.
No. We build proposals that include design, production, logistics and installation so you can see the full picture. Costs that often catch exhibitors off guard — venue electrics, organiser-required contractors, rigging, storage — are things we identify and factor in early rather than surfacing them late.
If something falls outside the original scope, we flag it before we proceed. We do not add to an invoice without prior agreement.
Yes — and if you are planning more than one show, it is worth discussing this at the design stage rather than afterwards. We can design stands with reuse in mind, with components or structures that adapt to different floor sizes and venues without needing to be rebuilt from scratch.
This is covered in more detail on our Exhibition Programmes page.

Process & Delivery
We manage the whole process. Vertex provides a full turnkey service covering design, graphics, build, furniture, logistics, installation and breakdown — all through one structured engagement. You do not need to manage multiple suppliers or coordinate between contractors.
This is one of the core reasons clients work with us. Fewer people to manage, clearer communication and a more controlled delivery from start to finish.
No. Most of our clients are not. We manage the full installation and will only contact you if something requires a decision that only you can make. In most cases, you can arrive at the venue on show day to a completed, signed-off stand.
We handle access arrangements, organiser requirements and on-site logistics as part of the service. You just need to turn up and exhibit.
We handle breakdown and return logistics as part of the same engagement. Once the show closes, we dismantle the stand and clear the space within the venue’s stipulated breakdown window.
If you are planning future events, we can also discuss storage of stand components and how assets could be adapted or reused. The process does not stop when the show closes.
This is agreed at the proposal stage and outlined clearly in the project scope. We do not limit feedback in a way that makes the process difficult — the goal is to get the design right before production starts, not to rush through revision rounds.
In practice, most projects reach a signed-off design within two to three rounds of feedback. Our briefing process is designed to minimise the need for major changes by getting the direction right earlier.
One person. From first conversation to post-show, you deal with one point of contact at Vertex who understands the full scope of your project. You are not passed between departments or left chasing updates.
This is intentional — it is part of how we keep projects moving clearly and reduce the friction that comes from fragmented communication.

Locations & Venues
Yes — we deliver across the UK. Our Midlands location is a logistical advantage, not a geographic limit. We regularly work at ExCeL London, Manchester Central, Scottish Event Campus and other major venues nationwide.
Being based in the Midlands means we operate efficiently at the NEC and ICC Birmingham while staying well placed for projects anywhere in the country.
Yes. The NEC is effectively our home ground. We know the venue well — the halls, loading arrangements, organiser requirements and what it takes to deliver without last-minute complications. If your show is at the NEC, working with a supplier who understands the logistics makes a genuine difference.
We have strong relationships with NEC contractors, venue services and show organisers built over years of regular projects there.
We work across all major UK exhibition and event venues including NEC Birmingham, ICC Birmingham, ExCeL London, Manchester Central, Scottish Event Campus, Olympia London and others. If your show is not at one of these, get in touch — we are not venue-restricted in what we can deliver.
Our primary focus is UK-based exhibitions and events. For international shows, get in touch directly and we can talk through what is realistic depending on the location, timeline and scope of the project.

Services & Scope
Our turnkey service covers the full delivery of a stand from initial brief through to post-show breakdown. That includes stand design, graphics production, structural build, furniture and AV, logistics, installation at venue and breakdown.
We also handle venue-specific requirements — electrics ordering, organiser paperwork, access arrangements — so you do not have to coordinate these separately. One process, one supplier, one clear scope.
Yes. Graphics production is included in our service — we do not outsource this. We can work from your existing brand guidelines and artwork, or help develop appropriate content for the stand format if required.
We manage print production and installation as part of the build, so graphics are not a separate thing you need to coordinate.
Yes. If you exhibit regularly, it is worth discussing a programme approach from the start rather than managing each show separately. We can design stand assets with reuse and adaptation in mind, coordinate storage between shows and give you one ongoing relationship rather than starting from scratch each time.
Yes. Alongside exhibition stand work, we design and build branded event environments for conferences, award ceremonies, product launches and other corporate events. The approach is the same — structured brief, practical design, delivered properly.
See the Corporate Events page for more detail on what we cover in this area.
